I'm using a new Lenovo laptop without a keypad and can't find a way to insert Insert ASCII or Unicode Latin-based symbols and characters without a keypad. Does one exist? Help!

if you mean you're using a Lenovo laptop without a numeric keypad, you can type the hex code, followed by Alt-x.

Thanks! What is a hex code? With my old laptop I used alt + a numeric code on the keypad.

If you go to Insert|Symbol and set it to display character codes as Unicode(hex), you'll see them. For any given symbol, it will be a 4-character code. A space (ASCII 32), for example, is 0020, and a non-breaking space (ASCII 160) is 00A0.
