Word 2013 .docx opens as read-only compatability Mode Wd0000000.doc
I start up Microsoft Word 2013 and select a New Document using the Blank Template, I work on it for awhile then save it using Save as .docx. Later I go back to work some more on the document, if I load it up by first starting Microsoft Word then choosing the open option, it loads up fine, but if I open up the document by double-clicking the file from inside an Explorer Window the document opens as a Temporary Document using the format Wd0000000.doc in Read-Only Compatibility Mode. I am used to being able to open up files from inside an Explorer window, Is there anyway to stop Word from opening up in a temp doc, read-only, compatibility mode? I personally don't care about having my document "Protected" I do not make word document templates or forms and anything I type up gets put out in printed form not .docx form. I don't need Read-Only Compatibility Mode and it is just quicker to go to my .docx file and double click it. |

Word always creates a set of temporary files when you work with a document; there is no way around that.
I can't imagine why Word would try to open one of those temporary files for editing, though. Have you tried reparing your Office installation?
