Default Word doc with links to Excel

Hi

I have done a Paste Link/Excel Object of an Excel cell into Word. When I open Word doc it keeps asking me if I want to link even though I have already checked the box to link automatically (under Excel Options/Advanced). What more should I do so that it just links without asking me any question?

thanks

Have you checked the link is set to update automatically? See under File>Info>Edit Links

Thanks for your reply. Yes, it is set to automatic update but every time I open the file I always get a pop-up box that says "This document contains links that may refer to other files. Do you want to update this document with the data in the linked files?"

Perhaps you could clarify something:
In post #1 you say the linked object is in a Word document, but that you've "checked the box to link automatically (under Excel Options/Advanced)."

Excel has an option to "Ask to update automatic links", but that's probably irrelevant here - it's the Word option "update automatic links at open" that needs to be checked. The Excel option only comes into play if the workbook you're linking to has its own links to other workbooks.

So, which options do you have checked in Excel and Word?

After further research I've established that your options are limited to:
1. auto-update of automatic links with prompt
2. manual-update of automatic links with no prompt
3. manual-update of manual links with no prompt
There is no setting to allow:
4. auto-update of automatic links with no prompt
