Can I apply conditional formatting to text in a drop down menu?

Default Can I apply conditional formatting to text in a drop down menu?

I have created a drop down menu with 3 options. I want the text to turn red if one of the options is selected (but stay black if either of the other options is selected). Is it possible to do this in word? Thanks
