Something crazy appearing in my printouts
I am new to this list after trying to solve my problem for several hours. Needless to say, my frustration level is high.
Hard to describe. Nothing unusual appears in the text of a document I have composed in WORD. Printing it out is where the problem appears and I don't know what it is. I thought it was the cartridge of my printer until I printed out something else and it printed just fine. I even copied and pasted the document into an email and it printed out just the same. So something is in the setup of my document and it's hard to describe. I'll try. The document prints the first several words just fine and then automatically switches into print that looks like the cartridge is running out of ink. This goes back and forth for the rest of the document. It kind of looks like a setup whereby you are typing new words and the odd stuff looks like words you are deleting. I have seen it before in legal language type of thing like you are typing a set of bylaws, for example, and then want to show the old language you are crossing out. I have no idea how that is set up. It would appear to be some kind of switch, on or off. HELP!! Does anyone know what this is? P.S. I have been using this Version of WORD since 2002 without a problem. This is brand new. |

Does this do this with a new doc?
If so, post a sample short document, so we can see it, or not |

I can't deal with this until tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 15th. Thank you, zizzy, for responding. I can print a report from Quicken just fine. My ink cartridge is brand new.
My printer is a Canon iP90. Will have to wait until tomorrow to go further. Should I "restore" my OS to an earlier time? The problem does not show up until I PRINT. I need to print a different email other than a WORD document created more than a few days ago. I copied and pasted the bad printout into an email new page. The header of the printout printed just fine. Only the cut and paste part did not. Gotta go. Thank you. |

Does this occur with another printer?
A System Restore could be a start if you know about when this problem started If other things print fine, such as what you said did or a web page, then it has to be Office specific If System Restore fails, then I would go to the printer company's web site and check out its help or forum -- if you are lucky you will find maybe a driver update I would finally turn to considering reinstalling Office, because it sounds as if something has gotten corrupted in Office and tracking this down can take longer and is high blood pressure producing, because for me it seems I am always the only one ever having this problem! |

Hello ... it is now Monday and I have done two system restores. The first one wasn't back far enough and so the second is now complete and I've run out of time to play with it. Next day for time to work on this will be Wednesday, Feb. 17th. Thanks for your response and ideas. I'm pretty sure it is not the printer, as it prints other documents I made in WORD just fine. The document in question was made in WORDPAD. I have some ideas for that but it will have to wait until Wednesday.

Lots of luck
If this fails, also check the printer web site for clues, such fixes or maybe forums specific there for your printer type |
