Default Pasting - strange behavior

Hello

The question is ...
I have a formatted document in word 2007.
When I copy/past to another blanck sheet two things can happen :
If the new document is absolutely blank, it keeps all formatation.
If the new document is not completly blank (eg, two empy formatting marks, or just a character space), it loses all formatation.

I don't know how to keep the formats in order to merge to documents in one.

Why can't I keep formatation unless the new document is absolutly empy ?

Home tab > Paint > the small drop down arrow > if you want to paste what you paste to be formatted the same way as the doc you are pasting in, then Paste Special > Unformatted Text

If this is NOT what you want, you will see other Paste Specials to try

Thanks for your reply
I already tried paste special, but that doesn't solve it.
I illustrate what happens .

This picture shows the text/photos pasted with a new empty doc sheet :

This picture shows two empty paragraph marks in another sheet :

This picture shows the text/photo pasted within the first paragraph mark. As you see it's not formatted correctly. The rest of the text is in page 2.

I can't figure out why this happens with an "used" sheet.
Any ideas ?
Thanks

Ouch

I am at a loss if Paste Special cannot solve your problem

One possible work around is use Table(s) with NO borders showing

Think of each cell as a separate document, so you might be able to paste in parts to individual cells and make adjustments to get things to work

It is those Paragraph marks that is screwing up the look and tables would certainly solve that

Thanks anyway
The problem is I worked already in 20 pages and I don't want to start over - this time with tables.

What I want to do is to merge pages to print in a A3 sheet (like a newspaper).
For me, looks like a bug in word. Don't know if anyone here has experimented it.

For sure, it does NOT seem right, because I seemingly can do what you cannot
