Hello all,
I am new to this forum and I am finding very interesting the info posted here. I understand a lot of configuring texts on word and such but today I am working on my masters dissertation and I am almost breaking my monitor so angry I am with word. I am using Word 2013 here and the first 8 pages have to have the same margin, so I set the margin for them and after the 8th page, I added a section break. All other pages should have mirrored margin then after the section break I went to personalize my margin and I changed to mirror and changed to "this section" at the drop box, but my Word insists in changing my whole document, then I tried to select the text that should have mirrored margin and selected "selected text", again, it changed the whole document. how can I set this margins, please help me before my heart explodes in anger. Thanks! Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 04-05-2016 at 12:44 PM. Reason: Mark as solved |

Mirrored margins are a document, not a section attribute, as is different even and odd setting for headers/footers. Set the margins in your first section so that even if mirrored, they are the same.

Hey Charles, thanks for your feedback.
I can't set the margins, the thing is I am writing my dissertation and the upper side of the document must have Top: 3cm, bottom: 2cm, left: 3cm and right:2cm, and the back must have: Top: 3cm, Bottom: 2cm, Left: 2cm and right: 3cm... That is defined by a norm and I can't change. The first 8 pages of my paper is just at the top so it should have the same configuration, all other pages will be top and back so it should be mirrored, If i set in a section on the layout page "different on even and odd pages" can i adjust margins differently? Cheers. |

Can you get by in the first 8 pages with 3cm left and right?
Otherwise you may have to have a separate section for each of those pages which would be a real editing challenge. |

I am saying that unless you can have 3 cm margins left and right, you will need a new section for each of those eight pages. That should be done when you are all done with every thing else. It may mean converting the TOC to text.
An alternative would be to separate the first eight pages into a separate document for your final production. |

As I think about it, saving the first 8 pages as a separate document (with the TOC converted to text) for printing will probably give you the best result. Then print the rest of your paper separately.

You are welcome. Be sure to keep both files in case you need to print more copies.
