Navigation Pane: Preselect "results" instead of "headings"
I often need to check a term's usage within a given document. My current MO is to highlight the term and then do Ctrl-F. Most of the time the Navigation Pane toggles over to Headings, even if I already have it open and have the Results tab selected. Actually, ideally, I would completely remove the "Headings" and "Pages" tabs, as I have no use for them, but all I really would like to do is to have "Results" be selected every time I use Ctrl-F.

You have no use for the headings tab because you are not properly using Styles. That is shooting yourself in the foot.
If it is already in the Results pane, it should stay there. If you close the Navigation Pane before starting your search, Ctrl+F will go to the Results pane. I added a keyboard shortcut to toggle the Navigation Pane, using Ctrl+Shift+N (instead of apply Normal Style). I can use that to close the Nav Pane if I want. The command is from the View Tab and is NavPane. |
