Formatting on linked documents incorrect!
Hi all,
Im new here, and easily get frustrated with using Word!! I'm using Word 2003! Basically i have a document and at the end of this document I need to add another external document, this document was in PDF but i have converted it into word. This document when I open it is formatted absolutely fine. When I insert this document as a linked document into my last master document, the format seems to go all funny! (Insert/file/then select the document to add) All the 'I' are removed and left blank, so these words are now split in to 2 words! And random numbers have been entered into the middle of words! Any idea how I can stop this from happening? Many thanks in advance for any help on this Donna |

The issue you're having is that, when inserting a document this way, the format of any Styles used in the source document assume the formatting Styles of the same name have in the destination document.
That said, I have no idea what you mean about: Quote:

'master document' – be afraid, be very afraid :-} This construct does not have a good reputation for stability.

Master Documents "Feature"
Text converted from one file format to another will often have anomalies. Some times they are apparent, other times they get you months later. What happens if you paste as plain text? |
