Default Word 2003 line spacing

Hi,

I have just set up a new computer for an employee (Windows XP Pro, Office 2003) and the line spacing in Word is displaying as double line spacing, even though the paragraph settings are set to single line. I did the Save My Settings Wizard for Office (the previous PC had XP and Office 2003) so all settings should be the same. Any other user who opens the same document sees it as normal. All the format settings are exactly the same as other PC's (font, paragraph, page setup, columns, tabs etc).

All her documents are out of whack because of this. Does anyone have any ideas?

thanks

jc

Try this:

Format > Paragraph > Spacing Before and After, set to zero

Line Spacing: Single

Hi zyzzyva57,

Spacing Before and After is set to zero and Line Spacing is set to Single.

I've been through all the formatting settings and nothing looks different between the user's in question and any other PC that displays the document properly.

They also have the same updates applied (SP3 etc).

Ahh, it looks like it is the font Lucida Sans causing the problem. When I change the font to something else, the spacing goes back to normal. The font on the PC is the same 'version' as the one on everyone else's.

I have tried replacing the Lucida Sans font on her computer with the one from my computer but that doesn't make any difference.

Why would this one font suddenly want to act so strange? It worked fine on her old PC?

Who knows?

One of the nice perks to being Bill Gates is when one of these crazy things happen with M$ product, you can pick up the phone and have the lead programmer come by and just fix-it!

I bet Bill secretly uses OpenOffice or iWork when no one is looking.

The user said she can just change the font on these documents. There aren't many (that she has found so far) so hopefully it won't be too much of a nuisance.
