Quick Access
Is there a way to open a previously saved document from the quick access tool bar. I have a client that would like to have a file saved with their letter head and would like to open it from the quick access tool bar. I suggested to pin the document in the recent documents section. Also, using a macro and quick parts (building blocks organizer), but they aren't happy with those choices. The end user wants to get the letter head from the quick access tool bar, but I am not sure how to do make that work. I appreciate any help/ advice. Thanks! |

The client should not be accessing a previously saved file for use as the basis of a new document. That's what templates are for.
Clear the variable text from the document and save it as a template, then create a macro similar to the following and call it from a button added to the QAT (Quick Access Toolbar) http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm Code:
Option Explicit Sub MyNewDoc() Documents.Add Template:="C:\Path\TemplateName.dotx" 'Change the path and name as appropriate lbl_Exit: Exit Sub End Sub

See the Easy New Document Template Package as well as the Letterhead Add-Ins on my downloads page for examples. I agree strongly with Graham that this is a job for a template, not a document.
