I'm new to the forum.

I've been searching all over the net for an answer to my problem and I'm hoping someone here has experienced the same thing. I work in the IT department a college.

We were on Office XP but upgraded to 2003. Everything was fine on XP, but since moving to 2003 this has started to happen. It is affecting students and staff, but so far not administrators (but we don't use office enough to say for sure).

I've been trying to find a common link it what is happening when it crashes. The users seem to be either copying and pasting (mainly from the Internet) or if they haven't save the document a box pops up saying "You are working without a word work file and memory is nearly full. Save
your work", they then try to save and it crashes. At this point most of the buttons are unusable and it is not possible (most of the time) to copy and paste the work out into another file/program.

All the Office and XP updates have been applied to try to sort this but it still happens.

Also on some machines as a test we have repaired office, and even removed it and install 2003 from scratch as I thought maybe the upgrade had gone wrong. But the problem still happens on the machines.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

The other thought I had about this is that it mainly seems to occur after about 10mins of use.

Could this be about the time autosave kicks in? Could that be causing a problem? Permissions perhaps?
