Quick Parts disappear when I save a templated file with or without macros (dotm and dotx) to either docm or docx file. The Quick Parts keep being visible to me but disappear when shared. Other way around has the same result if someone else saves the templated to docx or docm the quick parts are not visible to me.



The quick parts are save to the template file and not to building blocks or normal.

The files are saved and shared via DropBox. But zipping the docm file and saving it to dropbox has the same result. (so i believe Dropbox cannot be the problem)

I am working on windows 7 and the person I share the word documents with is working on windows 10.

Quick Parts (the same as all Building Blocks) can only be saved to template (*.dotx or *.dotm) files. You will have to ask users to download the template file and put it in their Startup folder for Word.

As Stefan said, you can only store building blocks in templates. Users must have the template either as the attached template or loaded as an Add-In or in their own building blocks folder.
Where can Building Blocks be stored?

Although there are some "Quick Parts" that are not building blocks (document properties and fields) the user-created ones almost always are building blocks.

Good point, although I view it from a different perspective: The Insert | Quick Parts command is misleading, because it includes options that are unrelated to Quick Parts/Building Blocks (fields and document properties). :-)
