Default Word file opened from USB, didn't save in laptop, lost usb, need file from laptop. How?

I was working on a word file on my laptop from some days. I used to open Word document directly from my USB and save it on itself without copying Word file to my laptop. I’m on Windows 7, is there any way that I can get back that lost Word file from laptop? I need that document as it is very important. I checked everywhere in unsaved data, recovery data etc. But couldn't find. File is also not available in AppData> Roaming> Microsoft> Word. If is there any way please tell me.

If you did not save it on your laptop, it is not there.

For future reference:

Word does not work with flash drives. You need to act as if you do not have any flash drives while you are using Word. You can use Windows to copy any document on a flash drive to your hard drive, use Word with it, and when Word is closed, copy it back if you wish.

This means:

  • Do not open a document on a flash drive from Word or with Word.
  • Do not save a document to a flash drive from within Word.
  • Do not print a Word document while it is on a flash drive.
Automatically backup Word documents
