How to bind multiple pages, each with it's own formatting
Good day everyone!
I am trying to bind several pages of word documents into one file. I saw many ideas on a google search, but they all involved inserting text from other documents, which didn't work because i have different formatting on each page. I just want to take each page of my word document and bind them together, so no joining of pages is possible. It works easily in adobe for pdf files, with one click it "binds" that files together into one. I'm trying to do the same with three word files. Thank you |

My recommendation is to do it in Adobe Acrobat.
If you need a Word file,
This may handle everything except differently defined Styles or automatic numbering. If you run into that, write back and we'll see what can be done. Remember rule #1 - work with a copy! |

Explanation:
Page formatting and layout is mostly done in Sections. Sections / Headers and Footers in Microsoft Word 2007-2013 The following may help as well: Numbering Front Matter (Ribbon) Bottom line, sections can have different page layout and numbering. Text formatting and layout should be mostly done in Styles. Understanding Styles in Microsoft Word Automatic numbering will add yet another layer. Numbering in Microsoft Word |

It works easily with PDF files because PDF files are essentially graphical representations of the pages. The format is thus largely irrelevant.

Strange as this may sound, you could actually do a fair bit of the work using WordPad. Simply opening a document in WordPad, making a trivial edit, then re-saving the file is enough to strip out all Style information, leaving behind just the formatted content (not sure how tables, shapes, etc.. fare). Using Section breaks to manage any differences in page layout, these WordPad-modified files could then be combined in Word.
