Closing the search side window via a shortcut key?
I'd like to close the search window that opens up on the left side of window via a shortcut key?
Can it be done? |

Yes.
I attached the NavPane Command (which is a toggle) to a keyboard shortcut. This is under Customize the Ribbon > Keyboard Shortcuts (button). I would recommend saving the shortcut in a .dotm template and storing that template as a Global Template. Even though it would be a .dot template, it need not contain any macros. |

Note, this will not work if there is an active search.
While in an active search, you can tab to the x close button, though, to close the search using the space bar. Then the toggle work |

Thanks a lot. Under active search, the ESC key seems to close the sesarch pane.

Escape
In my 2013, Esc works most of the time. If the pane is docked and an action has been started, Esc sometimes fails, in which instance the [Alt+W,K] shortcut is required.
