Table Prints Too Small
Hi,
I have a Word 2013 document with a table on it. Some cells contain text and some images. It's designed to make cards for a card game, with 9 cards on each sheet. (I tried to upload a page, but I got an error message saying the file was too large.) I first printed the page a few months ago and now want to print again because some of the cards have become worn, however when I print this time, the table comes out 5mm to short and 3mm too narrow on the page. It is important that all the cards are the same size, so this is no good. I'm sure I've set everything the same as before with a 0.1 margin, borderless printing and matte photo paper, but still it comes out too small. Please can someone tell me how I can get it to print the correct size? Thank you, Joe |

Check that your document is using the same page size as the paper you're printing on and that you don't have Word's option to scale the print checked (see under File|Options|Advanced>Print). Check that you're using the correct printer drivers and printer setup, too.
Do note that if you've changed printer drivers (e.g. because you've changed printers or Windows versions), that may also be a factor, as Word relies on information from the active printer driver for the page layout.

The paper size setting is correct and I haven't changed my printer or its drivers, however, I can't find anything related to printing under File|Options|Advanced. I can't seem to find a setting for Word's option to scale the print.

Did you look under the Print heading?

I've found it now; sorry about that. It was checked and I've unchecked it, but now everything's slightly too large and goes off the top and right of the page slightly. Is there anything else I can adjust to get it right?

Ultimately, you're at the mercy of the printer drivers when you rely on Word alone, as Word uses data from the driver to optimize the layout. The differences suggest you've changed printers and/or printer drivers since the last print. It looks like you're going to have to do some fine-tuning of the document to get the dimensions right. Once you've done that, I'd suggest saving the document in PDF format and using the PDF for future reprints - those are less susceptible to the vagaries of printer drivers.

I still haven't been able to print at the correct size, but I've managed to work around the problem by using my old printouts. Thank you very much for your help.
