Word 2013 - border around text including a graphic

I am trying to put a simple line border about 5 paragraphs of text, which seems straightforward, but the text paragraphs include a picture. When the border is applied the vertical element nearest to the image disappears - ie the vertical border appears only adjacent to text and not adjacent to the picture.



Any advice on how to create an unbroken border (ie a complete box) would be appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. I have found that text boxes don't accept images. It seems impossible to move the image to the correct location.

See if the attached is what you are looking for. If so, what I did was highlight the complete text and graphic and inserted the border. If you were looking for something else, we'll have to try again.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, that is what I need with the single exception that the image must be at one side of the text (on the right in my case) and the text then flows around to the left of the image.

I can make the border work properly (ie it is complete) with the image placed as you have done in your example, but when I move the image to one side, and set the text to flow around the image, gaps appear in the border.

I would appreciate it if you have time to try that same setup.

You could insert a one-cell table into the document, then insert your text & image into that.

Thanks again for the ideas. I tried the table idea but cannot get text to flow around the picture within a table.

I can still find no way to make this happen in Word 2013. I have even tried overlaying the missing element of the vertical borders with a separate line of the same width. This works to an extent but is quite fiddly to do so that the additional line aligns perfectly with the vertical border.

There must be a way!?

I inserted a one-cell table into the document, then inserted the text & image into that and gave the image a 'square' wrap format.
