Unhappy Converting issue 2003 word to 2007(new to 2007 office)

I understand how to convert back and forth to a point. I recieved an email from my professor for a class and it came in 2003 format. I opened it and we have to type in answers to questions on the sheet and fix graphs that are on it also. But it won't let me do anything at all on this page. I made sure it wasn't read only and had all the permissions. I converted it and saved in 2007 format, opened it again and still no luck. I thought maybe copying and pasting would work, but the format won't let me do that either. I opened up a new document and I can use word just fine. It's just this document I recieved. How can I get it to type on this paper I need?

Thanks =)
