Word Processing VERY slowly
I use a linked template between Word and Excel that I think is running very inefficiently. I have the word set as a Word Macro-Enabled Document, same with the Excel, and when I perform a simple CTRL+S, it crashes/does not respond 50% of the time.
Also, the mouse pointer is constantly flickering and spinning so it seems like there are lots of background processes going on that are slowing the doc down. Operating on Windows 8 / Word 10 Any ideas? |

Nothing you've provided so far indicates why either the document or the workbook would need to be saved in a macro-enabled format. Linking doesn't require it. The crashing suggests a faulty Office installation or a corrupt document/workbook.
Corrupt documents can often be 'repaired' by inserting a new, empty, paragraph at the very end, copying everything except that new paragraph to a new document based on the same template (headers & footers may need to be copied separately), closing the old document and saving the new one over it. As for the Office installation, have you tried repairing it (via Start > Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair)?

The workbook has multiple macros that allow me to sort data and reformat tables as needed. As far as the Word doc, I use one macro that adds a border to all my images. Nothing vital to the process, though, not in Word at least. I use a Macro enabled Word only b/c I thought it would work better with a Macro-Enabled Excel. Can I get away with only a Macro-Enabled Excel, but a regular Word?
I have repaired MS Office and will touch base with results... Thanks for feedback Paul! |

Since you're using macros in the document and the workbook, both would need to be saved in a macro-enabled format.

Thanks again Paul. I've eliminated the one MACRO I used in MS Word, saved it as a regular Word Doc and haven't had any problems yet. That said, I also repaired it through Programs and Features...Not sure which one worked, but I am up and running again so THANK YOU!!!
