Hello MSOffice Forums! First post for me.
I've used these steps to insert a reference to the "Company Address" document property into the footer of a document: From the Ribbon: Insert > Quick Parts > Document Property > "Company Address". Aside from editing the object that I've inserted directly (I think it is a Content Control), is there a manual way for a user to edit the value of "Company Address"? My Quick Parts > Document Property dropdown list contains 14 properties. Some of these can be edited from the Backstage > Properties, and some from the Advanced Properties > Summary tab or Custom tab. I don't find "Company Address" on any of those lists. TIA, -Jerry |

AFAIK, that's the only location the data are stored in the document and, hence, is the only location where the data can be edited.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your prompt reply! That's interesting. Is Company Address actually a document property or is the label under Quick Parts > Document Property a bit of a misnomer? I don't see Company Address listed as a Name in either the BuiltInDocumentProperties or CustomDocumentProperties collections. |

I believe its function as a document property becomes relevant in a SharePoint environment.

Thanks again Paul. You've saved me from continuing to look for something that isn't there.

Company Address is a built-in Document Property. An easy way to display and edit the value of this and other document properties (also document variables and bookmarks) is http://www.gmayor.com/BookmarkandVariableEditor.htm

Graham, That's a nice Add-In. Thank you for sharing that.

To make a long term change, you would need to edit this in the templates for your documents. Start with the normal template.
Normal Template in Microsoft Word - How to Find or Open the Normal Template As far as I know, you will need to actually open any template where you want to change this. That is, open it for editing, modify the property, and then save the template. I don't believe it can be done from an attached document. |
