Word 2003 Brackets appear around copied text
Hi All,
I have recently experienced a change in behavior of my MS Word. When I highlight a selection of text and press Ctrl+C it copies the text as expected, but a new unexpected behavior has started. Word inserts a greyed out square bracket around the copied text. I am not able to get rid of those marks. As I say, this is a new behavior. Did a setting get changed somewhere that I don't know about? How do I get rid of these marks and change this behavior. Thanks, Al |

Those marks are bookmark indicators. If you go to Insert|Bookmark, you'll find names like OLE_LINK1, etc. This usually only happens if you paste as a link, but it also happens sometimes when pasting into a different application. If you're not linking, you can delete the bookmarks.
