Default The 'Insert' key doesn't = Insert?

Office '07

I've been given a Word form to fill out. The form has lines after text questions for the response. Regardless of whether I press the keyboard insert key or not, my typed text 'pushes' the line instead of inserting within the line?

Is there something that I can change in the configuration of the doc that will allow for a real insert?

Mark

I am probably not the one to answer this but, just a thought pending a response from one of the experts, if the lines following the text is for a response....try highlighting the lines and enter your data as necessary. My initial thought is that the form was not created as a form properly (otherwise, you would not need the lines following the text).

Nothing against Word but, I have always used Adobe Acrobat to create fillable forms (thus, my initial comment).

If you are saying that you want the Insert key to toggle between overtype and insert mode, you have to select the option to "Use the Insert key to control overtype" at File tab | Options | Advanced (look in the "Editing options" section).

So I checked the "Use the Insert key to control overtype" but what about the secondary option below "Use overtype mode". I'm totally confused.

After you have enabled "Use the Insert key to control overtype," the second option ("Use overtype mode") corresponds to pressing the Insert key.

Thanks--

But stuff like this does make one (me) pine for the days of WordStar + DOS--just the insert key though ;-)

Many people, myself included, have pressed the Insert key by mistake in older versions of Word, so I actually like the fact that I have to enable the Insert key. :-)
