Default How do I change default picture settings in my template (.dotx)

I want to set default settings for my images and captions and save it in the template, but the only default I can find is where to wrap text.

Which settings are you trying to save, specifically?

Default 'How do I change default picture settings in my template (.dotx)'

Centre align,
a frame (centre shadow rectangle),
follow with caption

same with tables.
I have custom borders and shading for tables but can't save them in a style in the dotx

This means that when someone pastes a table, the table heading and table body styles need to be re-selected. (They don't of course and I end up having to fix it)

I also want to have a pop up window with all our templates instead of having to select Personal. Do I need to create macro's for that?

Sorry about the millions of questions. Hope they all make sense.

For shapes and text boxes you can make use of Building Blocks (Insert | Quick Parts would be one example of that), which let you reuse both content and formatting. You create a Building Block by inserting an example object, format it the way you want it, select it, and then create the Building Block.

For tables, you can certainly specify center alignment (for the whole table) in a table style. Alternatively, use a Building Block for the table content and formatting as well.

If your templates are saved in Word's User Templates folder, the easiest way to deal with this is adding the New Document or Template button to the Quick Access Toolbar. It gives access to the traditional New dialog box from older versions of Word.

To learn the exact path to the User Templates folder, look in the File Locations dialog box (click File Locations at File | Options | Advanced).
