Word changing language by itself
There seems to be a programming fault in Office 2013 which makes Word change the user interface language by itself. This seems to be happening every time I restart my computer. Anyone know a workaround for this? |

There is no 'programming fault in Office 2013' that would do this. If there were, I'm sure someone else would have noticed it before now. Most likely your issues concern how you have Office and/or Windows configured.

Please describe the symptoms in more detail. Perhaps you could post a screen shot that illustrates what you see.

Details
Macprod: it's a bit strange that this particular issue hasn't been reported previously, but here I am nontheless.
Stefan: Thank you for your willingness to help. There isn't much to describe really. I change the "Display and Help Languages" by selecting "English" on the top of the list in Options->Language->Choose display language. When I restart Word the interface language promptly switches to English as it is supposed to. The interface then switches back to a different installed language (Norwegian) when I restart Word after a random time interval (typically a few days or at the next computer restart). There is no apparent reason for this to be happening, so I am assuming a progamming error in Word. Wouldn't be the first one I saw, so I just need to know if there is a way to work around it. I understand that most people wouldn't consider this to be so big of an issue and just move on with their lifes. My problem is that I work with English documents a lot, and I quikcly find myself distracted when I have to interface Word in a different language than the one I am writing. Thanks for your help! |

If you are saying that you are typing/editing documents in different languages, you shouldn't change the display language but rather the language of your text; that way, you get the correct spellchecking.
That said, I don't know why the display language changes on its own. It clearly shouldn't, unless you picked the option that matches the language of Office with that of Windows.

Stefan, thank you for your reply, and your suggestions. As it happens, I didn't pick the option for the display language to "Match Microsoft Windows". I did change the spell checking language, but it doesn't change the fact that I want to change the interface language as well. I guess I'll just have to live with this thing.

Do you also have two input languages (keyboard layouts) installed?
