Default Calculations

Is there anyway to do calculations in a table in "real time"? The calculations that I was able to do already had values in the cells that are used in my calculations. What I want to do is to enter data via fields of a form and do the calculations after the values are entered.

If you use formfields for the data entry and formula fields for the calculations, setting the formfields' 'calculate on exit' property and applying forms protection to the document can achieve such a result. A forum search will turn up numerous examples.

I tried that but it did not work. I wonder if I have to create a template and not a doc file to have it work properly (I have the form protected but that should not affect anything). The formulas only worked if data was already there when I created the formulas not if I enter the data on the fly.

That's hardly a problem description anyone can work with. Field calculations in Word work well; indeed, I've written tutorials and contributed to books on the subject.
