Default cant print from older word docs in newer office??

hi giys, i know this is probably a very simple thing for you guys, but im baffled, i guy i know is nice enough to help me make some labels up, ( that bits ok ) but it wouldnt print for some reason, i can write new docs, and they print, i can print pics from my gallery all fine,, but this 1 file will not print,

i am running a good laptop, upgraded to windows 10, im using the very reliable office 2010, and as i say, everything else is working perfectly apart from printing this file,

i looked deeper, and on the prioperties, i noticed it was using an older version of office,

TYPE OF FILE : Microsoft Word 97 - 2003 Document (.doc)

would that be why?? and if so, can it be changed??

so far the only way i can do it, is save the file as a pdf, and print it that way,, but some of the typing dont line up with labels, so i would need to change that,

any help would be great, lol
