Default Problem with Find & Replace and Parentheses

I have a document which I've converted from a PDF to .DOC and need to correct the placement of nearly all the parentheses. Rather than try to explain it, I made a sample document and attached it. Below the sample text is an explanation of what I want to do. Thanks.

Okay, I found a way that seems to be working. I do one side at a time and copy the parenthesis I want to effect into Find & Replace. That way it can distinguish between the right and left which it can't seem to do otherwise. Hopefully that's solved it.

You could use a wildcard Find/Replace, where:
Find = [“"] ([! ]@) [“"”]
Replace = “\1”

PS: They're apostrophes, not parentheses...

Thanks macropod. I noticed the Wildcard field after I posted previously. I've never used them before though and haven't had a chance to look into it. I'll try it out.

If they're apostrophes, that explains a lot.

I just realized I was saying parentheses when I meant quotes. I must've been asleep at the wheel that day, sorry.

Macropod, I tried your wildcard but it doesn't seem to work. Here's an example directly from some text I'm trying to correct:

turn of " those vagabond cheaters " and makers

The original text is Times New Roman but the apostrophes are straight, as they appear here.

It's easy enough to find the apostrophes & text, but what I need to do--and so far haven't been able to do--is replace with the same text as that in the Find bar, only with the spaces removed.

The Find/Replace code I posted was for quoted single words. For quoted multi-word strings you could use:
Find = [“"] ([!“"”]@) [“"”]
Replace = “\1”

I gotcha, my original example was only one word. Just tried 'em both and they work like a charm. Many, many thanks!
