I have an automatic table of contents where I am trying to create links in the headings, but the links disappear when I refresh the table.

I have tried <Insert> , <hyperlink>, <anchor>, <headings>
When I do this, the link works, but if I refresh the entire TOC the link is gone.

I have also tried bookmarking the heading then <insert>, <hyperlink>, <anchor>, <bookmark>
This method also works until I refresh the TOC. The links and bookmarks disappear. When I go to access the bookmark again the bookmark doesn't even exist anymore.

How can I create links that will still work after a TOC refresh?
This is important because this document will need to be updated in the future by multiple users.

I've searched for this, but couldn't find anybody with this exact problem.



I am using Word for Mac 2011.

Any help is much appreciated.
