Default Saved File Corrupted and Unable to Open

I spent all day typing out a study guide on Microsoft Word that I continually saved to my Desktop. A few hours later when I was looking for the document, I wasn't able to find it anywhere. I searched through all my files and did any common troubleshooting that was suggested. I was able to look at all the documents I used today in Word and the specific file name was there, but the file is completely corrupted and will not open at all (when I click on it it says that the file cannot be found). There is no way for me to drag the document and email it, or open it in another format. What can I possibly do to recover this very important file.

Also, I had created other new documents today as well that saved perfectly fine and I'm able to see/open. I uploaded pictures to show exactly what the broken file looks like.
