MS Word 2007, strange container issue
Hello All
This is my 1st post on this forum and also the 1st appearence here I am on word 2007 and since a few days ago I have been noticing a strange thing on my word documents that I open up. (lacking the exact technical terms in my vocabulary) I see that the headers ,footers, template sections have changed to their 'raw skeleton' form to make you understand what I mean here , I have attached some screenshots of my word documents. the encircled parts used to hold data like : author, date, topics, versions, page numbers etc. but now I only see the meta data sections and the value of the container is completely missing . However the content of the word document in itself is still intact and legible. pl. see these screenshots links link1 Link2 Link3 Link4 I hope I was able to show my issue with the help of the attached screenshots. could anyone assist me , why is this happening and which setting is coming into play here ? Thanks in advance |

You have Word's field code display toggled 'on'. Pressing Alt-F9 toggles it on/off. See also Word Options|Advanced>Show document content>Show field codes instead of their values.

Paul, you are the Hero. the alt+F9 toggle did not work but what did was :Word Options|Advanced>Show document content>Show field codes instead of their values. It is resolved. Thank you ! |

Alt-F9 should work - unless you've re-assigned that keyboard shortcut - and is most likely what got your display into that state in the first place!
