To capture an image from a Word file, you may want to try the snipping tool from your Windows 7 software. It allows you to copy a segment (or, a complete page) and save it as an image in .jpeg or similar formats. Might be just what you need based on your narrative. (You can get it fast by doing a search of "snipping tool" from your Windows OS file).

Copy what you wish, cut, use Paste Special to paste as Enhanced Metafile. Then cut this, Paste Special again, and your choices will now include JPEG, PNG, etc. You will lose some sharpness.
