No option to inspect Headers, Footers and Watermarks.

Hi



This worked fine for me a few days ago by going to file, info, inspect element. But now, the option to inspect "Headers, Footers and Watermarks" is not available. The option to remove the headers and footers was usually underneath collapsed headings I think.


I closed down word, and have even restarted the laptop with no luck.



Any suggestions?

Try "File / Info / Check for Issues / Inspect Document", then scroll down to "Headers, Footers and Watermarks".

Is this a .docx file or pdf or rtf?

Hey Jim, that is what I was already doing, but for some reason the option for headers and footers is gone. It was there and I selected it a few days ago, and when I clicked inspect the file froze and had to restart.

And Charles, it's a .docx file that I'm using.

I am at a bit of a loss on this because I never use this feature. I wasn't really aware of it. I never distribute Word documents unless I want them to be edited by the recipient; I use pdf. I may start using it for when I do send Word documents.

What happens if you start Word in Safe mode?

If it works in safe mode, I would suspect a poorly written Add-In.

This feature would be especially important if I used one client document as the basis for a document for another client. I almost always start my production work from templates that don't hold client information.
