Default how to get a startpage like at word 2010 (text frame at margins)

Before I got word 2013 my word opened with a whole page. Now I see only the first line.
Is there a possibility to change to the former layout?
Thanks!

Does http://www.gmayor.com/white_space.htm address your problem? If not can you provide a better description.

I thank gmayor for his device, but it doesnīt hit the question.
In former word-versions I got the borders of a whole page. Beginning left above I filled the page. What you see is what you get.
Now in Word 2013 I get only a flat rectangular box, writing I add a new box (line) and so on.
Itīs not a existential problem, but Iīm used to the old form.

The only way to get that in Word 2013 is in compatibility mode with an earlier version. For more explanation on this, search this forum or Google for "Word 2013 text boundaries."

Download the sample template for Word 2013 from my downloads page. Templates and Documents That shows a couple of work-arounds with an explanation.

Are you using Word's 'Print Layout' view? The Web & Draft views perform along the lines you're describing.

Hi, thank you.

If i open "View" in the taskline, I see in German Seitenlayout (pageview). The option "printview" is not given.

In English-language installations, the view that shows the page layout is called 'Print Layout', not "printview". Seitenlayout (Page layout) would seem to be the German equivalent of 'Print Layout'.

Thanks, but in my version of word 2013 I canīt find a printlayout. Thereīs only a Lesemodus (read-modus), Weblayout and Seitenlayout = page layout.

I followed C. Kenyon (see above), now I have a new link on my sreen to a page, like I wanted, but in compatibelity modus.
Do you know a way to put that link in the taskline?
Sincerely
hauswalter

taskline?
QAT?

If QAT is what you mean:
  1. put the template you want to use in your Custom Office Templates.
  2. record a macro creating a new document based on the template.
  3. put that macro on the QAT
Note, while a document is in compatibility mode, it will not be able to access any features that are new in Word 2013.

Thank you.
I tried to realise your device, but this templates-folder is - like many others - blocked by system. Iīm administrator and single user, but nevertheless these folders are not free. I tried many times to set them free, but it doesnīt work.
I donīt know how to create that makro.

Look in your My Documents folder for a folder labeled "Custom Office Templates" or something along those lines in your language.

If that does not work, try using my template to create a document, then use SaveAs to save it as a dotx template. This should save it to your Custom Office Templates folder. From there, it will be available to create new documents as a Custom template.

Default end of the thread

Hi, Charles!
I thank you very much for your help, but my system doenīt accept your devices. I followed them, but at the end I can choose between 1. my link to your wordtemplate on screen to start the whole page and 2. to start the normal word-version with one line and to call up New and to click on Personally to start your page on this way. The extra effort is higher at 2.
So I close the thread in the afternoon.
I wish you all the best.
