Default Making a booklet

Hello Everyone,

I have what I term as a large file in PDF format that I would like to make into a booklet. It contains 158 pages!! Obviously lots of ink and lots of paper!

It appears to be in A4. It is in English and the next page is a translation in Spanish.

I would like to print a booklet in a smaller size than A4, maybe A6.

Do I have to select the size of print or by choosing (somehow) to make the booklet A6, will the print be selected to fit the page size, as I would like to have a similar set-up where the next page will be the translation of the previous page.

(I hope I have made this clear! I am confused enough even thinking of doing this, goodness knows how I shall eventually do it!)

ANY assistance or guidance would me most welcome! I can write in Word, and print that, but I have never attempted to print out a booklet!

[What does the option to "Post a Poll" mean and do?]

Regards,

Colin.

Haven't you tried printing it yet? Try this (using Adobe Acrobat Reader):

File/Print/Booklet/Properties/Page Size (select size) and then Print Preview. You should get what you want but keep in mind the smaller size you select, the smaller the print.

Hope this helps...

Hello JimP,
In answer to yours, No! Not yet, a little scared that I might mess it up and have to start all over again!
Thanks for the link, I'll have a look and carry on from there.

Regards,

Colin.

That's something you'd only use if there's a need to survey members for the purpose of gathering stats about some question you might have. Please don't use it otherwise.

Thank you for that explanation, macropod, I had no intention of using it anyway, it was just a question as to it's purpose! Thanks!

Hello JimP and macropod,
There is a problem!!
I got as far as printing 124 and 37 of a 160 page booklet, printing front-side first then I intended to print the other side by re-inserting the pages.
I had a paper jam and having cleared it, I have no idea how to continue from where it jammed.
There is nothing in the "waiting to print" and I can find no way to choose to print from the pages that have already been `printed.

Any idea how to continue? or is this wasted effort and paper?

Colin.

When printing a PDF from, say Adobe Acrobat, the print dialogue allows you to specify the page range. Note that, for booklet printing, that doesn't mean the page #s printed on the paper, but whatever pages those correspond to in the PDF.

Hi, macropod!
Another problem! (So sorry to keep bothering you)
I printed the first half, Front Side Only.
When I came to print the Back Side Only, I turned the page around to print on the back of the first page, but the print was in the wrong area.
I am printing on A4 paper with an A5 choice, to produce a small booklet.
The two A5 pages of the Front Side are situated in the bottom right quadrant of the A4 paper.
When those pages are turned around the Back Side print-out is situated on the top right quadrant of the A4 paper and does not line up with the Front Side already printed.
(I only printed the first page to check this possible problem.)
Would you explain how I can get the Back Side to line up with the already printed Front Side?

Thanks for any assistance,

Colin.

What you're describing suggests a mechanical issue to do with your printer (e.g. paper tray not achieving the required horizontal offset. The amount of misalignment would be half the discrepancy between the front & back pages. Nothing much you can do about that with a PDF.

Thanks for your answer.

I shall abandon the project.
Looking on the bright side, I now have 160 pages of scrap A4 which I can use as note paper! Should last for about a year! (or more!)

Thanks, and I shall close the thread, if it is possible!

Colin.
