Why is a Word document coming up as this? How do I convert?
I have a user who has received a Word document as an email attachment. When he opens it (in Word 2010) it comes up as code, the following is a sample line from the document:
begin 660 order.doc M>UQR=&9<86YS:5QD969F,%QF<')Q,7M<9F]N='1B;'M<9C!<9FUO9&5R;B!# Can someone advise what I need to do to convert this to something readable? What format is this in currently? It is supposed to be a shipping notice. |

That suggests the attachment is corrupt, or that it isn't actually a Word document - it could even be a UUEncode data stream representing the document but it hasn't been decoded correctly by the email program.

I remember seeing this a long time ago. My recollection is that the email program (it might have been America Online) had a choice to display attachments in the body of the email, and that the program wasn't very good at it.
