Default Table of Contents for a Section of a Document

Does anyone know if it is possible to have a Table of Contents that is confined to one section of a document? We have a 600 page plus document that we've developed to document process design, with various sections of the document that represent individual processes.

We'd like to be able to create a TOC for the individual processes, as they represent Standard Operating Procedures for each of the individual processes. Thanks in advance.

Marcus

You will have to enclose the section in a bookmark and then create a TOC field that references the bookmark. See http://wordfaqs.mvps.org/TOCTips.htm#PartialTOC.

Default Use separate styles

When I've had to do this, I've defined separate styles for the headings in that section. For example, when a big appendix has needed its own TOC, I defined styles with names like Appx Head 1 and Appx Head 2, and then I generated a custom TOC drawing from those styles only.

Although you can certainly do that, it isn't necessary if you use bookmarks. See my previous reply.
