Default Protect Document Settings

Hi Everyone,

I'm having some problems with a word document that I want to protect.

I'm using Word 2007.

The issues I'm having is I want to be able to set areas of a table that can be edited but I don't want the following symbols [].

Is there a way to allow editing of parts of the document without having the symbols and the highlighting that comes with it?

This is part of the interface. These brackets do not print and will not show up in pdf files created from the document.
