This is quite easy to do, for anyone who has learned how to use Word. When dealing with complex documents , Word is a complex program. "This is quite easy to do but not obvious, especially if you are inexperienced in using sections." Sections / Headers and Footers and Page Numbers in Microsoft Word 2007-2013
You are learning now, the hard way, by arguing with those who are trying to help you. Start, if you haven't done so, by showing non-printing formatting marks in Microsoft Words. This may show the section breaks. Every Section of a Word document has three headers and three footers, even if they are not shown or displayed. The "link to previous setting" is independent for each of these. That is, you can have six settings for this. Header/Footer Settings Recap You have apparently told the numbering to start at 1 for your new (main) section. Change the formatting of your page numbering for the front area to Roman numerals. |
