Question How to do a find and replace on formatting for partial word formatting.

I have text in an aboriginal language, we have a font but not everyone used it, so we have words typed using formatting and we need to find replace these with formatting in parts of the words.

Example word 'Namgis which needs to be 'Namgis where only the 'a' and 'u' are underlined. it is typed thousands of times in various documents and we want to be able to change all the 'Namgis to 'Namgis with the underlines in place. I don't think word does this, i know if the whole word was underlined it would be quite simple, but not like this.

Thanks for your help.

In your document format one instance of 'Namgis (with the underlines in place). Copy that instance to the clipboard (i.e, select it and copy).

Initiate the Find and Replace option:

In the find fields type: 'Namgis
In the replace field type: ^c
^c is the content of the clipboard.

Hope this helps...(Credit goes to Greg Maxey from a previous post.)

Default Thank YOU

i've been pasting, and typing and all kinds of things, did not know about the ^C, i'll have to look up the other escape-type characters.
