Default Changing format of a word changes things globally in the document

If I, for example, click the icon to start bulletted points, all lines become bulletted. Going back one on the back arrow takes off all bullets apart from the one I want. So I get there but not in the way it should be. I read the answer to this but can't now find it

The link Stefan gave you has all the information you need. Although it talks about Word 2002, it is true of every version since then.

Remember, Undo is your friend. Ctrl+Z should be the first reaction when something unexpected happens. You can always put it back with Ctrl+Y.

Thanks Stefan and Charles. I knew it was somewhere. And, yes, undo is my friend but that was just a workaround until a proper solution arrives - which it has!

Note that the article does mention ribbon versions of Word (but only Word 2007).
