On my Word docs when I click the minimize icon in-between the dash and X that reduces the size Word will not minimize.. All my other application work just fine. I do not remember changing any setting that caused this situation
Please advise |

The minimize icon is the dash. The middle icon is the window/full screen icon. It will show a double square in full screen and a single square in windowed mode. The size of the window in windowed mode is determined by whatever size it is set to. If you cannot access the edges of the window in windowed mode, With just the one application open click the Windows Task bar and select 'Cascade Windows'.

That is my problem I cannot access the edges of the WORD documents. When I click on the single square or double square the doc will move slightly. So it is trying to minimize
Where is the Cascade on the WORD doc? Where is the Windows task bar or is it on the Ribbon? Not certain if Cascade will solve the issue because it is trying to minimize my WORD docs. All of my WORD DOCs have this issue. It just started recently and as I mentioned only WORD is affected |

The Windows Task Bar is a Windows feature. It is usually found at the bottom of the screen and shows active applications, and sometimes individual files, that are open.
I have my task bar on the right side because it lets me show more items that way without using up valuable screen real estate. Attached is a screen shot showing the context menu that appears when I right-click on it. Note the Cascade option. The size and location of a Word window, which is open as a window rather than maximized, is set by the size of the window displayed last time Word was exited, I believe. Until you change this, by resizing a window, closing all other Word windows, and then closing Word with that being the last Word window, it will remain the default. If your windows are always maximized, it is hard to notice what this setting is until you change to the window display. |

Task bar
That does not solve my issue. Cascading just cascades multiple applications, None of my WORD docs cannot minimize . Typically when you use the boxes WORD will minimize it and shows on the desktop smaller then you can maximize it or resize it.

Cascading all of your windows gives you access to the edges to resize and move the Word window.

Cascade worked
It looks like by setting the windows to cascade solved my issue
The issue can be closed but I do not see an option to close |

Regain minimize/maximize document for Excel and Word
I had a glitch in that the icon in the top right hand corner didn't seem to function in Word or Excel. All docs and spreadsheets were always maximized. Also, the desktop looked very different. Microsoft support easily and quickly showed me the remedy: She went to the "caption" box, on the lower, far right corner of the screen, and clicked on that. A column opened up on the right side. There is a box at the bottom of the column entitled "Tablet Mode." It has to be clicked off to get the regular desktop and also enable the minimize/max icon. The desktop looks very different in the tablet mode. . . It only shows Microsoft Office icons which you have to use from the desktop. I hope this helps you!

For future reference, if you can’t move/resize the Window or see the edge of the Window to resize, r/click the Window ‘Title Bar’ and opt to ‘Move’.
Then use the Arrow keys/Mouse cursor to position the Window as required so you can see the Maximize and/or Restore Down options to use. |

Yes, but . . .
That is probably true.
But doing the resize the other way, also, got my desktop back to the other connections/shortcuts, my other software, etc. back to the desktop. I very much wanted my "regular" desktop back. And it is a simple one-step process. So easy! |
