Default how do I make pasted text the same size as the text it's being pasted into?

Hello,
This has been going on for ages, and I've tried to get to the problem so many times...

The default font I use in Word docs is Times New Roman 12. When I copy text from an email (which I do many times a day) and paste it into a Word doc, it always pastes in as TNR 13.5, a size I have never used.
How can I change this? (Never had this problem before present computer.)
I am using W7 and Word 2000.

The other thing is that annoying formatting like double spacing also carries over into the Word doc.
Thank you

Dave Lee

Paste as plain text? The paste options button appears whenever you paste. Choose the option at the far right.

Thank you Charles, but I don't understand. If instead of using Ctrl C to paste, I right click, then I get a menu, but there's only the one version of Paste on it.
What controls are you referring to?

Dave

Either one, a little icon pops up to give you paste options after you paste. Three screenshots below.
The first is immediately after pasting. The second is what happens when your click on the Paste Options button (or press Ctrl). The third is the mouse-over for the right-most option A of text only.

You can also set one of these as a default option.

Thanks, but we must be talking about different versions of Word. MIne is old - Word 2000, as mentioned above, and it's only since I changed computers last year I started having this trouble.

Your profile, though, says you're using Word 2013 on Windows 8! Please ensure your profile is correct.

To paste text into Word 2000 without changing the formatting in Word, choose Edit|Paste Special and select the 'unformatted text' option. You might also find it worthwhile checking the font settings in your email app.

You should also note that Office 2000 is not fully compatible with Windows 7.

That's fantastic, thank you Paul. I shall go and find out what went wrong with my profile.
