Default Is part of document deleted or not?

Hello all,
I was working on a 54-page document last night and shifted some text and photos around. Then I saved it. I opened it this morning and:
  • There are only 22 pages.
  • The headings for all 54 pages display.
  • When I regenerated the table of contents, all headings continue to display.
  • At the end of the document, I can scroll the last page up until it disappears. I've never seen that before.
Is there a possibility that I can recover the last 32 pages of my document?

In the attached screenshot you can see the last page scrolled up. On the left the last heading I can access is Axel Jonatan Blomgren, which is where the document ends. But look at all the other headings that still display. Weird.
