Default Uploading a previously created bibliography to be used in a new document

Until about 10 minutes ago, I had no idea Word offered a bibliography function in order to cite works within a document. I just finished writing an essay in which I reference several different websites and articles. I used a free online tool to create the citations and downloaded it as a Word Document. However, I would much rather use this information in conjunction with the tool inside of word to more accurately cite my sources.

Is there a way to use what I already have (it's a .docx file) and associate it with my essay so that I can use the reference/citation feature in Word?

Any references you added to the original Word document will have been stored in that as well as in a master list that will now be available to all documents. Simply going into References>Manage sources will open up the Source Manager, allowing you to copy sources from the 'Master list' to the active document's 'Current list'.

Alternatively, you could make a copy of your existing document, then just delete whatever content you don't want - all the sources will remain.
