version converter wpd to docx password protected

I need to convert .wpd to .docx BUT the files I need to convert are passworded. Can't convert because they are passworded, but can't remove the password until they are converted.

Chicken and the egg?? A real conundrum and could really use some help.

Open them in Wordperfect and remove the password. Then save as .doc or .docx files.

But that's the main problem; I don't have Wordperfect. I have Microsoft Works and Microsoft Office. I can't convert the documents. When I try to open them in Word, I get the message "Cannot convert password protected documents."

And I can't open them to remove the password.

Ohh, I'll see if I can download Wordperfect.

Note, you'll still need the password.

Thanks Charles. I found a Trial Download for Corel Wordperfect, opened with the password and then Save As and deleted the password.
Then I downloaded a free converter and converted them all to .docx. Everything is fine and I appreciate you heading me in the right direction.
