Default Publishing in 2 columns

I wish to publish a book with on the left side of the pages a journal of a voyage dated ca. 1708 in the original Dutch language.
On the right side of the pages of the book i want to place the translation in present-day Dutch.

Who can tell me what to do to arrange this text?

In Word, you can't control the text flow like that. What you can do is insert a two-column table and add the Dutch text to the left with the English translation on the right. Whenever text should "line up," add a new row. (You can add or remove table borders as required.)
