Hello. My name is Angela. I an having a lot of trouble with the header and footer in my Word document. I am unable to enter the same header throughout my paper. This is because the headers are labeled "section 1, section 2, section 3", etc.

For example, section 1 of the header of my paper will allow me to enter pages 1-6, but I am unable to enter pages numbers for header section 2, but can enter page numbers 7 and up for header section 3.

Please help me with this. I have reviewed tutorials for this and they have not helped.

Are you saying that page numbers are missing in section 2 or that their numbering is incorrect?

If you are trying to add numbers, just double-click to activate the header of section 2 and then insert a page number field (at the insertion point) by pressing Alt+Shift+P.

To change restart options for page numbers, click in the section where the page number is incorrect and then click Insert tab | Page Number | Format Page Numbers. For example, if you want the numbering to continue from the previous section, choose that option and then click OK.

Header/Footer Settings Recap

Hello. Thank you all for the replies to my problem. Unfortunately, I am still unable to solve my problem.

I have tried everything, but nothing worked. As I stated earlier, when I attempt to put the header on my paper, it reads HEADER SECTION 1, HEADER SECTION 2, HEADER SECTION 3, etc. The header/page numbers I put on my paper DOES NOT remain that way throughout the paper.

Can this be fixed?

Which kind of header are you trying to create? If you just want a page number, the easiest way is the following: Double-click to activate the header/footer area. Click where you want the page number. Press Alt+Shift+P to insert a page number field. Repeat for other headers as necessary.
