Default 2 Styles in 1 TOC Entry

I am trying to combine two styles into one TOC entry using the TC field code. I am trying to combine the Chapter Number style (which auto numbers each chapter ) and the Chapter Title style which falls below on the next line.

I would like the TOC entry to include the chapter number and the title. If I use the TC field code, I assume I would have manually include the chapter number. This isn't ideal since any chapters that are added in between would have to be manually changed.

Is there any way I can combine my Chapter Number and Chapter Title in one TOC entry that keeps the auto-numbering?

Thanks.

What you can do is include the style with the chapter text in the TOC and then add numbering to the corresponding TOC style. For example, if the paragraph style is at level 2 in the table of contents, add numbering to the TOC 2 style.

I have the same question. For example, chapter headings appear centered at the top of the page as:
Chapter 1
Blah Blah Blah

I would the chapters to appear in the TOC as:
Chapter 1. Blah Blah Blah......#

I'm not sure I understand the explanation or whether it applies to what I need to do. Is there a step-by-step or visual or YouTube for this?

TIA,

Julie Klein

The explanation applies.
You would not want to include the style that has your Chapter number. Then modify the TOC styles to include numbering.
