One of my employees has a word document that has a lot of embedded documents (word, excel, and PDFs).
When she tries to open an embedded excel document, she gets the following error message: "The program used to create this object is Excel. That program is either not installed on your computer or it is not responding. To edit this object, install Excel or ensure that any dialog boxes in Excel are closed." She does not always get this message. If she opens the document manually (through the folder), closes the document, then opens it in the word document, it loads correctly. Not quite sure what is causing this problem. She used to receive another type of error message with this document but I upgraded her computer to Windows 8 and while the old error no longer pops-up, she is getting this new error. |

Have you tried repairing the Office installation (via Start > Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change)?
